ABOUT MY PERSONAL PROJECT

When we think of Hong Kong as a city, we tend to veer towards looming skyscrapers and scenic views. And yet, there is an local and cultural aspect of Hong Kong that isn't always taken to heart.

As a student who has lived in Hong Kong her entire life, I wanted to take this opportunity to capture these small intricate details of Hong Kong culture and lifestyles that would typically go unnoticed on a daily basis. The main focus I wanted to portray was for people to notice, embrace and appreciate the city they live in.

I decided to use this project as an opportunity to express my message through photography by capturing a variety of shots of a local Hong Kong village as well as a few videos. I focused on this village specifically because it was significant to me personally.

This village is actually located not too far away from where I live and I pass by this village everyday on my way to school without ever having noticing it.  After some indepth and further research I decided to visit this village and explore this place that was present in my life and yet has gone unnoticed from the day I moved in.

The end result of my product is me uploading the photographs onto this blog site to share with everyone! So please, truly appreciate the city you live in and live for the culture within.
